Honda Sensing - Honda Safety Features

The Honda brand has long been synonymous with safety, and its Honda Sensing system proves the auto manufacturer is still trying to lead the way. The suite of safety features lowers the risk of significant injuries if you are involved in an accident and reduces the risk of an accident. Find out more about what Honda Sensing offers and how it keeps you safe.

Collision Mitigation Braking System

The Collision Mitigation Braking System uses multiple technologies to help you avoid an accident, and if one isn’t avoidable, it enables you to minimize the impact. The system uses multiple cameras combined with radar to warn drivers about impending obstacles ahead. Alerts include both visual and audible warnings, as well as a vibration in the pedal.
If the driver doesn’t correct the course, the system will try to avoid a collision. It will start by reducing speed and applying the brakes if the driver fails to do so.

Lane-Departure Warning System

Whether you have a long commute on the highway or like to take the family on cross-country trips, the long drive can be tiresome. The lane-departure warning system will help you stay safe and stay in your lane by providing audio and visual indicators if you are drifting into another lane without using your signal, indicating an attempt to move over.
If the driver fails to make the adjustments, the system will step in with corrective steering and braking. The system also alerts drivers when they leave a paved road and takes measures to avoid the occurrence.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Another dynamic feature of the Honda Sensing System for those who spend a lot of time on the highway is Adaptive Cruise Control. With this system, you set the vehicle’s cruise control once, and it will help your vehicle automatically maintain its speed while keeping a safe distance from other vehicles on the road. If the system detects you are too close to the vehicle in front of you, it will slow down your vehicle or brake to maintain the appropriate distance. Once you are free of the obstacles in your way, it will accelerate your vehicle to get you back up to the desired speed. Some models offer an added feature called low-speed following, which will provide for to-and-go functions when you pass through areas with heavy traffic.

Traffic Sign Recognition

With specific Honda models, the Honda Sensing system includes Traffic Sign Recognition as part of the suite. The system can read the signs along the road through cameras, including speed limit signs and stop signs. This information is fed back to the vehicle’s computer and displayed on the head-up display if the vehicle comes equipped with one. The 2021 Odyssey was one of the first vehicles equipped with both technologies.

Have peace of mind every time you get in your Honda by knowing you are in for a safe drive. The Honda Sensing system will keep you safe and boost your driver confidence no matter where the road ahead will take you.
