Kerr Lake

The 50.000-acre lake in Henderson, approximately 20 miles away, reaches into Virginia and boasts good size catches. The locals say this is the best fishing lake in the region. If you pull out largemouth bass, you can keep ten per day, but only two may be longer than 14 inches. There is no minimum size limit. The lake has a tackle shop, boat ramps, restaurant, and restrooms.

Falls Lake

The undeveloped, 12.000-acre lake in Wake and Durham counties attracts fishermen from all over the region. The lake is well-stocked and has numerous artificial reefs and fish shelters. Anglers report catching bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie all around the lake.

Rivers and Creeks

Fly fishermen say that the Eno River is the best in the Neuse River Basin to cast your line. You can wade in or fish from the bank to hook largemouth bass, red-eye, redbreast sunfish, bluegill, bullhead, and chubs. Favored creeks include Poplar Creek, Little Grassy Creek, and Rattlesnake Creek.
